What is the AromaTouch™ Technique?

dōTERRA’s AromaTouch Technique is a clinical approach to applying essential oils along energy meridians and reflexology points of the back, feet and hands to help balance the Nervous system and various other systems of the body. Developed by Dr. David Hill, a leading expert in integrative medicine and therapeutic applications of essential oils, the AromaTouch Technique improves wellbeing by reducing physical and emotional stressors and by supporting healthy autonomic function. The technique uses dōTERRA’s CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade™ essential oils for an unparalleled grounding experience for recipients.

Unlike traditional massage, it utilises eight oils that promote relaxation and stress relief, offer immune support, decrease pain and inflammation and elevate mood. Through a specific application technique the oils stimulate homeostatis in the body via the energy or meridian lines. Although a gentle technique, it is extremely relaxing and energising at the same time.

It's ideal for every body to help support the nervous system, immune function, reduce inflammation and pain and balance the body.

What are the benefits?

From Stress Management to Auto-Immune System Diseases

AromaTouch Technique will maximize the benefits of the essential oils within the body, stimulate known body meridian and energy zones, while balancing body systems and function. AromaTouch Technique is for everyone and is proven to be especially beneficial for those with chronic issues such as Diabetes, Cancer, Arthritis, Rheumatism, Gout, Carpel Tunnel, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Osteoporosis, Neurological Disease, Cardiovascular Disease, Pulmonary Disease, Back Pain, Fibromyalgia, and Auto-immune system disease.

The AromaTouch Technique incorporates simple hand techniques with the power of essential oils to create a powerful whole body wellness experience. It seeks to address four systemic constants that are present in daily life and which may serve as limiting factors in health: stress, immunity, the inflammatory response, and autonomic imbalance.

For whom is this technique? It´s for the busy mom as well as for the working “too long hours” business woman/ men. For all those who like to look after their health & well being.

What are the oils used?

When you look at the oils that are utilised in the technique, it is no surprise why it is so beneficial:

The first blend

is mix of oils such as Spruce, Rosewood, Frankincense and Blue Tansy. These oils have a calming action of your central nervous system, promoting a sense of balance, relaxation and reduction of anxiety. Frankincense has been shown to have anti-inflammatory chemical compounds and also stimulates the limbic system- the emotional centre of your brain. This creates an overall sense of wellbeing.

The second oil,

Lavender is chemically complex and offers a broad spectrum of activity in the body. Studies have shown that Lavender oil is effective as a calming agent, a mood modulator and relieves anxiety. It is also excellent for the use in management of wound healing and tissue damage.

The third oil

Next we use Melaleuca (“tea tree”). This oil is often used for infections and is revered for its cleansing properties. Modern science has begun to investigate the effectiveness of melaleuca against different types of pathogens and microbes including MRSA (the hospital super bug). Its germicidal characteristics make it an excellent choice for wound care and tissue health. For the Aromatouch™ technique, it is used to support the immune system and aids the body’s return to homeostasis with its system cleansing properties.

The fourth blend oil

A blend of cleansing essential oils including Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary is also used to boost the immune system, making this treatment particularly helpful in those who are currently ill or recovering from sickness. Clove is known in the medical system (both ancient and modern) for its cleansing properties thanks to its high content of a

compound called eugenol. Clove alleviates colds, digestion disorders, nausea, neuralgia and toothaches.

The fifth blend oil

The next blend is designed to soothe tissue irritation and elevate circulation in order to manage discomfort. It includes cypress, marjoram, basil, lavender, grapefruit and peppermint. These oils have been shown to be calming on soft tissues. Cypress consists of several compounds, the most prevalent being alpha pinene. Among other physiological effects, alpha pinene helps to relieve fatigue and maintain healthy circulation throughout the body systems. Grapefruit essential oil is a favourite for clinical stimulation of a sluggish lymphatic system (which makes it effective on cellulite too ladies!!).

The sixth oil

the technique uses is a blend developed for pain relief. It includes constituents used in many liniment type products such as wintergreen, camphor, peppermint, blue tansy, blue chamomile, helichrysum and osmanthus. These oil provide cooling relief to aching joints and supports a healthy inflammatory response in the body, reducing the effects of chronic inflammation. Wintergreen is famous for its ability to support healthy inflammatory responses as well as it’s cleansing properties. It has a presence of methyl salicylate- an ingredient in aspirin. 5ml of Wintergreen oil contains the same amount of methyl salicylate as 20 aspirin pills.

The seventh and eighth oils

Finally the treatment concludes with application of wild orange and peppermint to the feet and spine. Citrus oils are best known for their immune support compounds such as limonene. Limonene has been shown to naturally support the levels of a critical antioxidant known as glutathione. Every cell in our body is dependent on this important antioxidant for cellular protection. Peppermint offers a wide range of both internal and external benefits. The active ingredient in peppermint oil is menthol, an organic compound that works as a discomfort modulator and soothing agent for the body. Its long-lasting cooling effect on the body stimulates those nerves responsible for the sensation of coldness, suppressing the nerve transmission of uncomfortable impulses in the body. Within the Aromatouch™ technique, peppermint is utilised in several blends, as it is highly valuable in balancing the body and addressing systemic stressors.
